Start Making Noise | Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month 2016

Shout about the symptoms
Early diagnosis saves lives

March 2016 is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Ovarian cancer can be devastating. Far too many women are diagnosed too late, once the cancer has already spread, making treatment more difficult. When a woman is diagnosed at the earliest stage, her chance of surviving ovarian cancer for five years or more doubles from just 46 per cent to more than 90 per cent. With your support, we can get more women diagnosed sooner and save lives. Let’s Start Making Noise this Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Your support will save lives

  • £50 could help 200 people to learn about the symptoms of ovarian cancer by receiving our symptoms leaflet
  • £100 could enable 200 GPs to update their knowledge of ovarian cancer and best practice for early diagnosis
  • £500 could pay for two days of medical research into new treatments for ovarian cancer
  • Or scroll down to 'Loud and Clear' to find out how you could help with an awareness event

How to Start Making Noise

Bake Some NoiseBake Some Noise

Serve up a coffee morning at home for your friends, family and neighbours. Or bring coffee and cakes to work and ask for donations (get a little recipe inspiration here!). Or how about an afternoon tea party?

Dress LouderDress Louder

Join supporters across the UK wearing their brightest outfits on Friday 11 March. Ask colleagues to donate £2 to take part or sponsor others to wear really outlandish outfits! To get started, download our sponsorship form or set up an online fundraising page. Join our Facebook event to help spread the word.

Noisy Nights

Noisy Nights

Turn up the volume with a disco night, karaoke party, choir performance or even a battle of the bands! Raise funds by selling tickets, ask guests to donate for a song or hold a bucket collection. We’ve got lots of materials we can send you including banners and collection tins

Jump and ShoutJump and Shout

Imagine standing in the doorway of an aircraft at 10,000ft. You jump and freefall at 120mph, then the canopy opens and you begin a peaceful descent safely back down to the ground. This March be part of our biggest ever Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month skydive team

Loud and ClearLoud and Clear

Shout loud about the symptoms of ovarian cancer - hold an awareness talk with a community group, hand out symptoms leaflets at your local shopping centre or ask your GP practice or pharmacy to display one of our posters.

Add your voice to #StartMakingNoise this #OvarianCancerAwarenessMonth by sharing your activities on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Share our symptoms image or update your cover images. And join us for an extra special day on 31 March, when we’ll be asking everyone to SHOUT LOUDER by typing in capital letters all day.
