Why you should sign up for The Ovarian Cancer Walk|Run

With the Ovarian Cancer Walk|Run on its way to London and Belfast this autumn, here are eight reasons you should sign up to take part.

The Ovarian Cancer Walk|Run is fast approaching... Whether you’re walking, running or something in between, we can’t wait to see you at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London on Saturday 8 October, and Ormeau Park in Belfast on Sunday 6 November.

This year’s event is set to be extra special as we celebrate our tenth anniversary! And if that’s not enough to persuade you, here are eight more reasons why you should join in the fun:

  1. For a great day out! Bring your friends and family, don a costume (if you want, it’s not compulsory), meet new people and have a laugh.

  1. The more people who sign up to take part, the more funds and awareness we can raise together, to ensure everyone with ovarian cancer is diagnosed as soon as possible.

  1. You might have a personal reason for taking part – to show support to someone you love, improve things for future generations, or maybe just for yourself.

  1. If you want to help raise funds and awareness but don’t fancy organising a raffle or training for a marathon, this could be the event for you! You can still make a difference by taking a gentle stroll with your friends and family along our beautiful (and flat) routes.

  1. You’ll be part of an amazing community taking steps to change lives, and meet other people who feel strongly about the same cause.

  1. It’s great motivation – if you want to get more active, this could be the push you need. Or, if you’re already a fitness guru, you can add the event into your training to make sure you get your steps in.

  1. Exercise not only improves your physical health, but your mental health too, releasing endorphins that can help to relieve stress and improve your mood.

  1. Crossing the finish line will give you a sense of pride and accomplishment. Plus, we’ll give you a medal so you can remember your achievements (and brag to your friends!).
