I was first diagnosed in Feb 2007. I’ve had chemotherapy and a hysterectomy. I am now on my sixth recurrence during that time (2007/2009/2011/2013/2014 & 2015.) I am currently on Taxol weekly. How is it I’m responding so well?

I’m on my sixth recurrence. Is this very unusual and are there many others surviving so many recurrences?
We are all individuals, with different types of cancer and different responses to treatment.
Response by Dr Alison Farmer, Oncology Nurse

Many women survive for many years with ovarian cancer, which every now and again recurs and is re-treated.

The pattern tends to be recurrence, treatment, period and remission and good quality of life followed by recurrence and further treatment etc.

I don't know the record for this type of pattern but I do know that we are all individuals, with different types of cancer and different responses to treatment. It is very hard to predict how well a person will do as there are always exceptions to the rule.
