You are able to attend two workshops during the day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). Please let us know which two workshops you would like to attend:
Coping with anxiety – This session offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of anxiety and how it can affect your overall wellbeing. With reference to psychological frameworks of stress, this workshop will offer practical and accessible techniques to help to manage anxiety to regain a sense of balance, confidence and wellbeing.
Craft and chat – Take some time out to meet others while learning some new craft skills. This session gives you the chance share your experiences with other women who have had a diagnosis of ovarian cancer and their guests while making something new. It will be run by counsellor facilitators and artists from Room for You, a charity dedicated to providing arts activities for patients undergoing cancer treatment and their loved ones. No experience of arts or crafts is required and all materials will be provided.
Mindfulness – Learn more about mindfulness as a technique to cope with the anxiety that often follows a cancer diagnosis. By encouraging you to focus on the present moment, mindfulness can have benefits for your sense of wellbeing, help with stress and anxiety. This session will cover the theory behind mindfulness and give you lots of opportunities to practice. No experience is necessary, just come with an open mind!
Intimacy, sex and body image – Ovarian cancer treatment has a profound impact on all aspects of life, but we tend not to discuss its impact on sex and intimacy. This workshop is a space for women to discuss their experiences and to learn about approaches which can help. Please note that this workshop is only for women who have had a diagnosis of ovarian cancer; guests are invited to join another workshop if there is room or have a cup of tea in the communal areas.
