Ovarian cancer doesn't get much time in the spotlight, so we've been hooked on the two ovarian cancer soap storylines this year – and we’re not the only ones. We’ve been keeping up as they unfold and considering what soaps can do for symptoms awareness, as well as how cancer is portrayed in the media.
In this podcast, Katie Salt, Information and Support Manager, and Val Lang, Nurse Adviser, chat about the ovarian cancer storylines in Channel 5's Neighbours and BBC's EastEnders. We cover how Neighbours portrayed Sonya Rebecchi's diagnosis and treatment, as well as elements of living with ovarian cancer such as talking to children and partner support. We also look at how EastEnders have managed their Jean Slater storyline so far, including the symptoms and misdiagnosis issues they've highlighted.
