Our Supporting You events are unique days that focus on the psychological and emotional effects of an ovarian cancer diagnosis. We hold several across the country each year, they are free to attend and open to all women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Women often tell us that their diagnosis has impacted on all aspects of their life, from their mental health to their sexuality and body image. Pathfinder 2016 found that 80 per cent of women with ovarian cancer said that they had experienced mental ill health. We designed Supporting You events to change this; they are an opportunity for you to have your questions on all aspects of wellbeing answered.
Our next event, Supporting You in Hull, will focus on sex and intimacy after an ovarian cancer diagnosis. Far too often we hear from women that they have struggled to get information on this incredibly important issue; Pathfinder 2016 found that 73 per cent of women reported difficulties with intimacy following a diagnosis. We are delighted that Lynn Buckley, Gynae Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist, will be our guest speaker to discuss sex, relationships and body image and for a Q&A session. Women will also have the chance to attend sessions on exercise and relaxation.
