Following on from Target Ovarian Cancer's involvement with the development of key messages for women, the charity is now working with the Department of Health and other interested groups to develop consistent messaging on the symptoms of ovarian cancer, to be released to health professionals.

Annwen Jones, Chief Executive of Target Ovarian Cancer is clear about the importance of this initiative:

"As part of the National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative it is really important that doctors, and GPs in particular are made aware of the developments in understanding around symptoms. Medical text books routinely describe ovarian cancer as a 'silent killer' with symptoms presenting only once the disease has spread. These key messages will help to dispel these myths once and for all."

The key messages will be ready in the Spring of 2009. Target Ovarian Cancer is already working to establish effective delivery of these messages in and amongst the Primary Care Community.
