Target Ovarian Cancer win most Inspiring Collaborations Award at World Ovarian Cancer Coalition Impact Awards.

The award recognises an organisation collaborating with other organisations to change the future of ovarian cancer.

We are delighted to announce that our work into ‘Breaking Down Barriers to Early Diagnosis’ has been recognised by the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition in this year’s impact awards.

Today, our Clinical Change Manager Natalie Ritrovato received the Inspiring Collaborations Award recognising her work and dedication to the early diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Target Ovarian Cancer has been at the forefront of early diagnosis in ovarian cancer for over 10 years. Natalie has been leading our ground-breaking project ‘Breaking Down Barriers to Early Diagnosis’ and creating partnerships with commissioners and health care professionals to identify ways to tackle the postcode lottery in early diagnosis performance and quality across the UK.

The Inspiring Collaborations Award recognises Natalie’s work to collaborate with other organisations in order to change the future of ovarian cancer.

Emma Kane, Chair of Trustees at Target Ovarian Cancer, said:

Natalie has been identifying the barriers to early diagnosis of ovarian cancer across areas of the UK to end the postcode lottery in diagnosis. Her commitment to working collaboratively with local Cancer Alliances to shorten the diagnostic pathway has led to effective interventions which we hope will lead to both earlier and faster diagnosis for all. This recognition of her work is truly deserved.

We’d like to take this opportunity to both congratulate Natalie and thank the Peter Sowerby Foundation for a strategic grant to fund this vital work.

Early feedback indicates that these interventions have been well-received by GPs and primary care teams, and we are currently evaluating the performance. Findings and recommendations from these interventions will be published in 2023.
