Target Ovarian Cancer launch an essential guide to support women in the months following a diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

'What happens next?' offers women in the UK a guide to help manage their feelings alongside the impact of an ovarian cancer diagnosis. Our guide deals in a practical and down to earth manner with surgery and chemotherapy and gives women the information they need to make sense of their hospital encounters.

Alongside this we look at the impact of diagnosis on the whole person; how it affects relationships with family and friends, colleagues at work and partners. The guide also feature a section dedicated to the experiences of younger women with ovarian cancer. We hope that ‘What happens next?’ will feel like a helping hand during a very turbulent time.

The guide was developed through focus groups and consultation with women living with and beyond ovarian cancer and features images of real women in everyday places and everyday situations. Each section features contributions from Dr Alison Farmer a psycho-social researcher working in oncology at Southampton University who has a section called ‘How you might feel’ accompanying each section.

We would like to thank Howard Webber for all his help and support. This guide is funded by a donation in memory of Howard’s father, the late Manny Webber.
