Help Us Help You: Working together with the NHS

We’re excited to be working with NHS England, Cancer 52, Ovacome and Wellbeing of Woman to support NHS England’s Help Us Help You cancer awareness campaign.

We’re excited to be working with NHS England, Cancer 52, Ovacome and Wellbeing of Woman to support NHS England’s Help Us Help You cancer awareness campaign.

After over a decade of campaigning, in 2020 and 2021 we saw the first-ever government-funded national awareness campaign featuring ovarian cancer symptoms (bloating and discomfort).

Now, we’re taking this message to the heart of communities in East London and the Midlands, with a series of awareness events across January and February.

Why? Because we know only one in five* can name bloating as a key symptom of ovarian cancer and only a third* can name abdominal pain. More awareness is needed to help stop this disease devastating lives, so that people are empowered with knowledge to see their GP.

Persistent bloating, abdominal pain, feeling full quickly/loss of appetite and needing to wee more urgently/more often are the four main symptoms of ovarian cancer.

It’s our mission to raise symptoms awareness and encourage people to visit their GP and we’re holding awareness events to raise awareness of the importance of seeking help if you have symptoms of tummy discomfort, pain or bloating.

Yesterday, we were in the Whitechapel Idea Store, handing out information about what to do if you’re worried. We hope that by working together to raise awareness, more people will know what to do if they have persistent symptoms.

If you’re in the area on the following dates, please come down to see us:

  • 20 January – Stratford Shopping Centre

  • 31 January – Custom House Day Lewis Pharmacy

  • 1 February – East Beckton Day Lewis Pharmacy

You can also volunteer with us at the stands. To find out more please email: [email protected]
